Nine Card Isle Privacy Policy

Effective date: 10/9/2026

Nine Card Isle collects very little information: your progress stays on your device, and online play only needs what is required to connect you to an opponent. We do not show ads, sell data, or use third-party analytics or tracking.

Who we are

Nine Card Isle ("the Game") is developed and published by Studio Digital Caffeine ("we", "us", "our"). This policy applies to every version of the Game, on every platform it is released on: Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, PlayStation 5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It also covers our online play servers.

It does not cover the platform you play on (for example Steam, PlayStation Network, Xbox network, Nintendo Account, the App Store or Google Play). Those services have their own privacy policies, linked in the Third-party platforms section below.

Information we collect

We do not ask for your real name, email address, phone number, payment details or location, and the Game has no account system of its own.

Save data: player profiles, nicknames you choose, settings, language, progress, unlocks, achievements and in-game currency

When: Always, while you play

Where it goes: Stored on your device only. On some platforms it may also be backed up by the platform's own cloud save service.

Kept for: Until you delete it or uninstall the Game

Profile shown to your opponent: nickname, character icon, border, card back, rank and experience level

When: When you play online

Where it goes: Sent through our relay server to the player you are matched with. Not stored by us.

Kept for: Only for the length of the match

Gameplay messages: your moves, turn timing and match state

When: When you play online

Where it goes: Passed through our relay server between you and your opponent. Not stored by us.

Kept for: Only for the length of the match

IP address

When: When you connect to online play

Where it goes: Our relay server, used to connect you, prevent abuse (for example, limiting connections per address) and in short-term server logs

Kept for: Server logs are rotated and kept for no more than [30] days

Platform name and game version (for example "Windows" or "Android")

When: When you join an online match

Where it goes: Our relay server, counted in anonymous daily totals (number of matches, players per platform, peak players online). The totals contain no personal information.

Kept for: Totals are kept for up to 400 days

Crash reports: error message, game version, platform, the screen you were on and game mode

When: After a crash

Where it goes: Sent to our server the next time you start the Game, then posted to a private developer channel so we can fix the bug

Kept for: Until the bug is resolved

Platform account identifier (for example your Steam, Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo account ID)

When: Where the platform requires it

Where it goes: Used only by the platform's own features inside the Game, such as achievements, sign-in and cloud saves. We do not store it on our servers.

Kept for: Managed by the platform

We do not use cookies, advertising identifiers or device fingerprinting in the Game. The Game does not offer real-money purchases inside the Game; shop items are bought with in-game currency earned by playing.

How we use information

We use the information above only to run and improve the Game:

  • To save your progress and settings on your device.

  • To match you with an opponent and relay moves between you during online play.

  • To keep online play fair and working, including blocking abusive connections and detecting matches that fall out of sync.

  • To understand, in aggregate, how many matches are played and on which platforms, so we can plan server capacity.

  • To find and fix crashes.

We do not sell, rent or trade your information, use it for advertising, or build profiles about you. Where a legal basis is required (for example under the GDPR), we rely on performing our agreement with you to provide the Game, and on our legitimate interest in keeping it secure and stable.

Third-party platforms and services

The store or console you use may collect information about you and your play (such as purchases, playtime, achievements and friends) under its own privacy policy. We do not control that collection.

Our servers are located in the United States. If you play from elsewhere, the limited data described above is transferred to and processed in the United States.

Security

Online play data passes through our own server and is not stored once a match ends. We limit access to the server to our team and protect it with key-based authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but because we hold so little information, there is very little at risk.

Children's privacy

Nine Card Isle is a family-friendly game that can be enjoyed by players of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). Online play only shares the nickname and cosmetic profile you choose, so we recommend that younger players use a nickname that is not their real name. Parents can turn off or restrict online play using the parental controls on each platform. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete your data: remove profiles in the Game, or uninstall it, to erase your save data from your device. Platform cloud saves can be deleted through the platform's settings.

  • Play offline: every mode except online play works without a connection, and nothing is sent to our servers when you play offline.

  • Access, correct or delete: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold, to correct it, or to delete it. Because we do not link server data to a name or account, we may not be able to identify data that belongs to you, but we will help where we can. Contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top and post the new version on this page. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will also announce it in the Game or on our website.
